Doug brings to his clients more than 40 years of experience in insurance defense and claims management leadership. His experiences give him a unique and multi-faceted perspective that enables him to help his clients achieve their individual and organizational objectives.

Doug focuses his practice at Suite 200 Solutions in three areas of critical importance to industry leaders. He provides his services to both insurance claims organizations and to law firms looking to improve their litigation management services.

  • Litigation Management Program Development, Implementation, and Improvement – including the creation or refinement of guidelines, standard operating procedures, and best practices.

  • Audit and Assessment Services – with a focus on guideline compliance, litigation management best practices, and corrective action plan development.

  • Bespoke Litigation Management Training  and Curriculum Development, including effective communication, reporting, guideline compliance, best billing practices, and litigation planning and budgeting.

Before joining Suite 200 Solutions, Doug was the Chief Litigation Management Officer for Wilson Elser. In that role he was responsible for quality assurance, client audit services, client compliance programs,  alternative fee arrangements, legal project management, legal process improvement, and pricing for one of the preeminent insurance defense law firms in the United States.

Prior to Wilson Elser, Doug held several critical positions at AIG, most recently serving as SVP of Global Litigation Best Practices and Knowledge and Innovation Lead, with a core emphasis on the Company’s global best practices and international panel attorney programs.

Doug was the SVP of AIG’s Claims Counsel Program, where he developed the company’s litigation management guidelines, improved litigation management processes, and created the company’s litigation training programs, all while overseeing a staff of 30 attorneys responsible for providing litigation management and coverage advice  to the company’s claims professionals.

In more technical roles at AIG, Doug served as the Complex Claims Director for Property  and Casualty Claims, including high-exposure general liability, automobile liability, and products liability disputes. He also served as a trial attorney of construction site accident and products liability claims, and as a Unit Manager in AIG’s staff counsel operations.

Doug has served on the Advisory Board for the CLM (Claims & Litigation Management Alliance), and on the Insurance Roundtable Steering Committee and the Insurance Law Steering Committee of the DRI (Defense Research Institute).                               

 Doug is a graduate of Cornell University and Brooklyn Law School.
