Lake Geneva, WI — Suite 200 Solutions announces that Shawn Nelson has joined the firm to lead its Transportation Risk & Strategy practice.
Shawn’s practice helps transportation companies, and the insurance, technology, and service providers that support them, improve safety and risk performance, evaluate and implement new solutions, develop markets, and turn strategic priorities into effective execution. His consulting work spans transportation safety and risk strategy, insurance and alternative-risk initiatives, technology evaluation and adoption, market development, strategic partnerships, and executive advisory engagements.
Before joining Suite 200 Solutions, Shawn served as Executive Director of the Independent Carrier Safety Association (ICSA), where he helped build the organization and the internal infrastructure it needed to support rapid growth to nearly 8,000 motor-carrier members across 48 states. He led a team of safety professionals focused on improving carrier safety performance, which included responding to unsafe driving behaviors, developing approaches that helped carrier owners and managers coach poorly performing drivers, and setting standards for continued participation in the program. He also oversaw a large-scale in-cab safety technology program covering more than 20,000 commercial vehicles.
Earlier in his career, Shawn worked closely with executive leadership in safety and risk management at Knight-Swift Transportation, concentrating on strategic and special projects. He helped launch an insurance program in partnership with a captive insurer and helped the organization adapt its operations to changing regulatory requirements. He also gained experience in the company’s logistics business, including carrier relations and business performance.

Shawn holds a Juris Doctor from Arizona State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Arizona GLobal Campus. He is based in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
